For the kids we serve, summer camp isn’t just another fun week – it’s a rare opportunity to become friends with other children their age, escape the hard work and isolation they experience at home, and feel loved and cared for by our child advocates.
Thanks to donors like you, a record-breaking 1,980 children in Haiti experienced a summer of fun at camp this year – playing games, making crafts, laughing, singing, and dancing!
Not only did the children get to play and learn with their peers at camp, but they also ate a nutritious meal each day – something that, with food costs up by an alarming 45% in Haiti this year due to inflation, they may not have received at home.
While kids across Haiti were having fun at summer camp, other members of our field staff were working hard to fill even more bellies through our new community resiliency program. Through this program, launched in partnership with Woord en Daad, communities in Port Salut are learning agroforestry and how to plant fruit-bearing trees.
Stay tuned for future updates on our community resiliency program and ways to support the children and communities in Haiti we serve!
