When Elda entered the Child Advocacy Program, she had been living in restavek with an aunt for two years. She was responsible for completing all the household chores on her own throughout the day, including mopping, washing dishes, and fetching water. She now lives with her biological parents, but remains at high risk of being sent back into restavek because of their financial situation.
Elda’s advocate, Marie Yolaine, describes her as very kind and motivated to learn. Her favorite color is pink and she enjoys playing with her doll when she has free time. When she grows up, Elda would like to become a nurse.
