Thank you so much for providing children in Haiti with the opportunity to attend summer camp! This year, we had a record number of 450 children planning to attend one of Restavek Freedom’s summer camps. In addition to our camps in Port-au-Prince, we also had two additional camps at our newly expanded Child Advocacy Program in Southern Haiti!
Jennifer, a Child Advocate in Port-au-Prince, writes
“The students have learned many things in the summer camp: making decorations and crafts, making soap, and decorating t-shirts. They also met new friends, shared food together, and danced. They learned new things in Math, English, and French, and worked on subjects that they did not understand well during the school year. The children really enjoyed summer camp! I want to say thanks to all who made summer camp possible this year!”
Without opportunities like this, children in restavek spend their summers completing physical labor day in and day out. Summer camp is a break from this exploitation and mistreatment and it is also a place where the children can play and learn in a safe, loving environment with old and new friends!
Thank you for supporting summer camp and for partnering with us to end child slavery in our lifetime. Your generosity has provided a summer of fun, education, and friendship for children who need it most!
